Five Phases Farm: Laura Tomlinson & Unique Win Peterhof CDI Int. II

PERL-BORG, Germany, Sept. 9, 2015–Great Britain’s Laura Tomlinson and Unique won the Peterhof Dressur Gala CDI2* Intermediate II Wednesday while South Africa’s Nicole Smith on Victoria was the highest placed of the riders using the competition as a warmup to their Olympic qualifying event in two days.

Laura and the 11-year-old Holsteiner mare scored 71.105 per cent with big disparity in scores and placings–Peter Holler of Germany awarded the pair 74.473 per cent for first while Raphael Saleh of France gave a mark of 67.105 per cent for eighth place. The pair began CDI Grand Prix at the Global Dressage Festival in Florida last winter.

Germany’s Uta Gräf on Lawrence was second on 69.974 per cent and the Netherlands’ Theo Hanzon on Top’s Zoe third on 69.605 per cent.

Nicole Smith on Victoria, a 17-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare, scored 68.211 per cent for sixth place in the competition that was used by several combinations as a warmup for the special Olympic qualifying event Friday in which South Africa and Japan will be vying to qualify a team and others for individual slots at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro next summer.

Nicole, 24 years old, and Victoria led her nation’s team in their first ever world championships last year and is looking to qualify for South Africa’s first ever appearance in Olympic dressage.
