LAMPRECHTSHAUSEN, Austria, Sept. 6, 2015–Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Zaire captured the CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday, the second straight victory with personal best scores for the German combination. The USA’s Jennifer Hoffmann on Florentinus V also posted their first double wins in taking the Intermediate 1 with a personal best score.
Jessica and the 11-year-old KWPN mare scored a personal best of 76.504 per cent for the Freestyle win that followed their Grand Prix victory a day earlier, also with a personal best result. This was the seventh show for Jessica and Zaire since beginning Grand Prix almost a year ago with a pair of victories. The rider also competes Unee BB for the German team and captured bronze at the World Cup Final in Las Vegas in April.
Austria’s Renate Voglesang on Fratello placed second on 72.226 per cent and compatriot Tinne Zach on Quantico was third on 71.202 per cent.
Jennifer Hoffmann, the Californian who is based in Germany, rode Florentinus to their second straight win by taking the Intermediate 1 on a score of 71.316 per cent, their personal best ever result.
Jennifer and the nine-year-old Westfalen stallion won their first CDI victory Saturday in taking the Prix St. Georges, also with a personal best.
The pair competed in the World Young Horse Championships’ six-year-old division in 2012 and began their small tour career last summer.
The Netherlands’ Krista Kollin on Wish placed second in the Int. 1 on 70.184 per cent with fellow Dutch rider Jessica Leijser on Winando third on 70.158 per cent.
Australia’s Hayley Beresford competed her Rebana W for only the second Small Tour CDI and placed fourth in Int. 1 on 69.816 per cent.
The Germany-based Hayley and the seven-year-old Hanoverian mare also placed fourth in the Prix St. Georges. The pair made their CDI Small Tour debut in Austria in June, two years after competing in the World Young Horse Championships five-year-old division.
